AT&T LG Escape Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade available now

For anyone who had purchased the LG-made Escape through AT&T last year, some good news has arrived in the form of a Jelly Bean update. Yes, that’s right. Benefits introduced by Android 4.1 like Voice Search and expandable notifications will now be at users’ disposal.

Taking advantage of the situation, the carrier has included its DriveMode app in the upgrade as well. For those who haven’t heard of this utility, the network operator has infused it in some smartphones with a view to discourage texting while people are behind the wheels. The app sends automatic customized replies to calls and texts as soon as the car picks up a speed of 25mph. Users who wishes to install the OS upgrade will find it in the settings menu under the General section.

As it’s been a while ever since the phone initially surfaced, let’s rerun through its core attributes. To begin with, it flaunts a 4.3-inch touch display spurting out visuals at a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. A 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus is the force that drives the device from within.

A 5MP camera slithers onto the flip side and features autofocus, 4x digital zoom and video recording capability at 720p. Apart from the internal storage capacity of 4GB which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card, the company has provided 1GB of RAM with regards to memory. A 2,150mAh battery apparently renders up to 8 hours of talk time or approximately 13 hours of standby.

The LG Escape can be found at AT&T stores clinging to a negligible price tag of $0.99, albeit with a spanking new two-year service contract. Together with a one-year agreement, the device can be seen showing off an MRP of $250, while the non-contract variant can be picked up at $350.
