LinkedIn for Android and iOS overhauled, updated for Windows Phone too

An updated version of LinkedIn for Android and iOS has been pushed out, moving the former to version 3.0 and the latter to edition 6.0. While the update for the mentioned OS’ had rolled out on April 18, the company had presented Windows Phone users with an upgrade as well, on April 16. This release has thrust the WP app to version 1.5.

The overhauled software mainly focuses on a fresh layout, changing the app’s avatar from top to bottom. Owing to this fresh edition, users should be able to like, share and comment on some content right from the updates streams. Apart from these activities, the stream will also stand as a platform for directly inviting and following other professional networkers.

Users are also in for some new experiences with respect to the apps’ navigation options. Swiping from left to right on the home screen will lead to the navigation bar jutting out, proffering two-tap access to shortcuts like ‘People You May Know’, jobs, groups and others. When it comes to iOS, it is only the iPhone which has witnessed these latest additions. The app optimized for iPad on the other hand has undergone only certain bug and crash fixes.

In terms of Windows Phone, the software has been tweaked so as to support Live Tiles, offering updates directly from the start screen. Users have now been given an option to set the lock screen to endorse pictures from the social network’s Today section. It may please some to know that the fresh version supports speech recognition, meaning they can perform actions within the app like checking messages and setting a status with the help of verbal commands.

LinkedIn has taken steps to expand localization even further by including additional language support for Android and iOS. While users of both platforms will be able to employ the app in Dutch and Norwegian, those with devices running Google’s mobile OS will be granted an extra dialect, Turkish. People who own Windows Phone gadgets can now enjoy support for French, German, Chinese and Spanish.
