The Asus ZenFone smartphone series has been quite successful in India, much to our surprise, and the company has disclosed that the sales figure will most likely cross 200000 units by the end of this month. At this rate, the OEM might turn out to be as triumphant as Motorola which managed to sell a million phones (that’s with six zeros) in just about 5 months.
The Asus ZenFone series comprises of 4 smartphones which cater to different price points and needs. In just 4 days of their launch, the company reported a sale of 40000 units. All models appear to be doing well as they’ve been out of stock multiple times already.
It was only back in August that the company launched its 4.5-inch model which offers slightly improved specs compared to the 4-inch phone. All options in the lineup are dual SIM compatible and they are powered by dual core Intel Atom CloverTrail+ processors. Currently, the handsets run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but updates to version 4.4 KitKat have been promised for the near future.
In recent news, Asus launched an update for its 5-inch and 6-inch ZenFone handsets which bring in USB OTG compatibility that’s already enabled on the smaller sibling. The new firmware also tags alone some fresh features and fixes for better stability.
With Android One and the new Moto G hitting India, and the Redmi 1S doing exceptionally well, Asus could witness more intense competition. The ZenFone series is available exclusive through Flipkart with prices starting at Rs 5999 and going up to Rs 16999.
