Asus PadFone mini 4.3 tablet-smartphone combo launched in Taiwan

The PadFone Infinity has a new sibling, the Asus Padfone mini, which unlike the former, brings a 4.3-inch smartphone and a 7-inch tablet. As of now it has only been launched in Taiwan, the company’s home country, but it should soon arrive in other regions as well.

Engadget has reported that users in nations like China, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore and Indonesia can expect the device in the near future. There’s no exact release date though. And we are not sure if it plans to arrive in India or not. Like the other contenders in the range, it features a smartphone and a tablet dock to offer 2-in-1 functionality.

Some of its specifications had leaked on the web, and the official launch of the gadget has only proved them right. So here’s what the PadFone mini hides under its hood. For starters, the gadget binges on the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS and it should get the KitKat update as well. A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8226 processor that can sprint at a speed of 1.4GHz fuels it from within along with 1GB of RAM.

Speaking of memory, you get 16GB of storage space on the device with an option to expand it with a little assistance from a microSD card. The smartphone’s 4.3-inch touchscreen is capable of rendering visuals in 960 x 540p resolution and it draws power from a 1500mA battery, whereas the tablet with a 7-inch 1280 x 800p touchscreen makes use of a 2200mAh pack.

The Asus PadFone mini 4.3 hybrid device carries a price tag that reads NT$ 11,990 (approx. Rs 25,165) in Taiwan.
