Apple iPhone 6 models with 4.7-inch, 5.7-inch screens for 2014 rumor? It’s rubbish

You can get away with saying that Apple plans to launch the iPhone 6 in 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch screen sizes for 2014. It will be at least 10 months before the company actually announces its next smartphone or smartphones. Would you actually be able to recall any guesses that are being made so far from the launch date?

C Technology took to China’s Facebook equivalent we know by the name of Weibo, to break this story. The word comes from unnamed employees of Foxconn, the company that manufactures devices for Apple. Apparently, the handsets will also feature biometric security like Touch ID which is present in the current generation, high-end iPhone.

Apple iPhone 5S

Just guesswork and nothing else

Now here’s the fun bit – BGR has put together a number of reports which ‘reveal’ that the iPhone 6 could have a 4.5- to 5-inch, 4.7-inch, 4.9-inch, 5.7-inch or 6-inch display. A 4.8-inch touchscreen was also talked about way back in October. See the pattern here?

No one is likely to remember who said what, so even you can go ahead and hedge your bets for 4.5-inch to 6-inch screens. The 5/5S graduated to 4-inch panels from the 3.5-inch ones found on the 4/4S. Keeping in mind the phablet revolution, it’s highly possible that Apple will go for a bigger display on the iPhone 6.

The only certainty

Whether the company will be willing to divert from its ‘devices for one-handed use’ policy is another thing to mull over. Maybe it’ll manage to fit the 6-inch form factor comfortably into the palm of your hand. Only one thing is certain, the iPhone 6 (and 6C?) won’t be cheap.
