Apple asking developers to submit keywords for easier App Store search

Apple App Store Logo AppleInsider reports that recently Apple accepted that it needed to make improvements so that users can easily locate App Store software. Post this announcement, developers have been asked to submit a list of keywords for their applications to improve searching through the App Store.

Apple has asked developers to send up to 255 characters worth of keywords, separated by commas. These will be utilized in order to improve search in the App Store on the iPhone and iPod touch.

“It is important to enter keywords for all applications as soon as possible so your application can continue to be successfully located on the App Store,” the update from Apple reads. “Keywords can be updated with the submission of a new binary.”

These changes have been made to the service called iTunes Connect. This is where developers and artists submit their content to the App Store and iTunes.

The App Store includes over 65,000 applications and it can prove to be a daunting task for users to find new applications with the current categorization methods. Apple chief executive Tim Cook recently announced that the company is searching for novel ways to categorize software in the App Store.
