Android phones to get visual voicemail

Android Logo Android 1.5 offers many innovative features such as homescreen widgets, an on-screen keyboard, great notification management and by far the best Gmail experience. However, this OS lacked some important features that the iPhone possesses.

One of these features was the visual voicemail. Engadget reported recently that a novel method of adding visual voicemail to the device was discovered after a bit of impromptu experimentation. In order to avail this feature, users will require a Google Voice account.

Google Voice works in the following manner. A new phone number is provided to users that acts as a central clearinghouse for all in-coming calls. So what users essentially do is they give out their Google Voice number instead of their landline or cellphone number and Google directs the call to them.

Visual voicemail can be added to Android devices free of charge.
