O2 mobile broadband service now offered on Wi-Fi Hotspot

O2 logo This news may bring happiness to users who browse the web all day long and are in constant search for Wi-Fi enabled locations. O2 has upgraded its Connection Manage software enhancing the web browsing experience for users with the addition of hotspots. According to Slashphone, the company along with BT has announced in unison to offer additional 3,000 Wi-Fi Openzone hotspots.

Along with own hotspots and those belonging to partner The Cloud, the operator has nearly 7,500 hotspots already. All over the UK, users will be able to access Wi-Fi through nearly 5,000 locations through BT’s Openzone hotspots. This will comprise of most Starbucks stores, Hilton Hotels, Caffe Nero and more.

The updated software will provide higher productivity for mobile connectivity through the operator’s dongles. It will also allow users to monitor and control data consumption for users with the addition of a data counter. It will assist users during individual sessions and link through to an overall usage page by offering apt usage data. Moreover, as 75%, 90% and 100% of the data allowance has been achieved, the software will automatically receive a notification. Apart from this, during the initial installation users can copy their existing Wi-Fi profiles into the software. According to O2, this will make logging onto home and work networks easier and faster for users.

Supposedly, users can currently obtain the upgraded version of the software while new ones will be offered at the end of July, 2009. O2’s monthly mobile broadband packages begin from a monthly charge of £14.69 with £5 for the first four months.
