Amazon has already been offering big discounts on the Kindle eReader and Fire HD 8.9 tablets in India. As part of a special Christmas deal, the company has now brought down the price of the Kindle Paperwhite too. As for the eReader, you can lay hands on it for Rs 5,000 currently. The 16GB and 32GB Fire HD 8.9 are going for Rs 18,000 and Rs 22,000, respectively.
The Kindle Paperwhite with Wi-Fi only was previously pegged at Rs 11,000. It’s now selling for Rs 1,000 less, that’s at Rs 10,000. If you prefer the Wi-Fi plus cellular version of the device, then be prepared to sign up with Vodafone in case you want a discount on it. Amazon says that the 3G wireless feature works for free on this carrier only.
The 3G Kindle Paperwhite’s original price is Rs 14,000, but with the Rs 2,000 reduction, you can buy it for Rs 12,000. While you’re shopping on Amazon anyway, watch out for its Free Deal of the Day which throws open a free deal every day until Christmas. There are some decent discounts on books, electronics, toys and more.
As for the Paperwhite, it’s an eReader and not a tablet like the Fire HD. So its functionality is pretty limited and we honestly don’t think it’s a great buy. That’s unless you’re an avid reader who dislikes the smaller screen and short battery life of your smartphone and hence can’t see yourself using it to read.
