The Alcatel OneTouch Watch has arrived in India and is now available exclusively through e-commerce site Flipkart for Rs 7999. It was unveiled at CES earlier this year and is selling for $149.99 in the US, which makes its local price cheaper by roughly Rs 2000.
The wearables market seems to be rapidly expanding in India going by the recent influx of smart devices entering the segment recently. Like the others, the Alcatel OneTouch Watch can keep track of daily activities such as calories burnt, steps taken and distance walked. It also observes the length and quality of a person’s sleep.
All the information is saved in the OneTouch FIT website, where it can be shared with other users. The watch’s companion Move app is compatible with iOS 7 and Android 4.3 JellyBean. Once connected to a handset, people will be able to control music and take selfies by just tapping on its screen. They can also view notifications for social media, emails, SMSes, WhatsApp and calls.

The Alcatel wearable’s 210mAh battery doesn’t require a cable to be charged, relying instead on its in-built USB 2.0 port embedded within the wristband. It needs about an hour to be powered up and is supposed to last for up to 5 days. The gadget sports a 1.22-inch TFT 262k touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels and oleophobic coating.
Alcatel has designed it to look like a traditional watch with a dial made up of stainless steel and a strap composed of rubber. It contains a STM429 processer and comes with IP67 certification, which means it’s dust-tight and waterproof up to 1m. It can be connected through Bluetooth 4.0 and has an operating range of 10m.
The Alcatel OneTouch Watch can be bought in black or white. Once again, it costs Rs 7999 and is up for sale on Flipkart. You can download the Move app through the Google Play Store and iTunes.
