Adobe Flash Player 10.2 coming soon to Android Market

Adobe Logo Delivering interactive web content, videos and interactive apps across a multitude of mobile screens and browsers, Adobe Flash Player is all set to become even better. Adobe has officially announced the upcoming availability of Flash Player 10.2 through the Android Market starting from March 18.

This production GA (General Availability) release of Flash Player 10.2 is compatible with all devices running on the Android 2.2 platform or Froyo and Android 2.3 or Gingerbread. According to a post on the official Adobe blog, the software will come out as a beta release for Android 3.0 or Honeycomb tablets that require Google’s 3.0.1 system update.

Flash Player content will continue to be delivered in a separate window on top of HTML in Android 2.2 and 2.3 browsers. The other new features include improved overall performance that leverages multi-core GPU-enabled processors to provide games, Flash videos and interactive web content on the latest mobile devices. The incorporated ActionScript API allows developers to automatically include and show a soft keyboard.

Apart from being downloadable via the Android Market, Flash Player 10.2 will come pre-installed on scores of upcoming smartphones and tablets. It is also slated to be delivered as an OTA update to existing devices.
