By launching the Intel Education tablets, the Santa Clara-based company is back to paying attention to the student user base. Remember the 7-inch Intel Studybook which had been introduced for a similar crowd a little over a year ago?
The chip maker this time has two slates up its sleeve, with the smaller one showing off a 7-inch 1024 x 600p multi-touch display, while the other slab touts a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen encompassing a 1280 x 800p resolution. Driven by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the former packs an Atom Z2420 processor clocked at 1.2GHz and backed by 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM.
It features dual cameras – a 2MP rear-mounted snapper and a VGA webcam. The slab’s inbuilt storage capacity sums up to 8GB and a microSD card slot can be spotted on the device to ensure additional expansion. Hidden within the device that measures 200mm x 122mm x 9.95mm in dimensions, is a 4,200mAh battery, owing to which it should survive for up to 7.8 hours.
As opposed to the 7-inch slab, the 10-inch Intel Education is powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich. A 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 chipset and a 6,600mAh battery join forces to keep the device up and about. Memory-wise, users will find up to 16GB of built-in hoarding space and 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM. Expect to find camera offerings similar to those of the aforementioned gadget.
As far as the price of the Education tablets are concerned, no details have been given out. But we believe it shouldn’t drill that deep a hole in buyers pockets, knowing it has been targeted at students.
