Micromax A34 budget Android smartphone hits shelves

Micromax may play in the mid-range segment quite frequently, but its A34 dual SIM Android phone is here to ensure that fans looking out for a budget handset aren’t left disappointed. It carries a price tag which again makes us wonder about the Indian government’s reported proposal to dabble in the low-end smartphone field. We mean, the Rs 4,399 that the Micromax A34 is pegged at can hardly be called a high asking price for a device like this one.

For the price we’ve mentioned, the A34 has some pretty interesting specs to offer. Each of its SIM slots is capable of accepting a GSM card. The front panel is given to a 3.9-inch touchscreen bordered by three capacitive buttons along its base. Since it’s a very basic smartphone that we’re talking about here, the flash-supported 2MP camera on the back can hardly be called a raw deal. A 1GHz processor has been placed at its heart and Gingerbread 2.3.5 runs the show.

In terms of memory, there’s 256MB of RAM and 165MB of user-accessible storage. Since the latter is obviously going to fall short for owners who like to hoard a lot of apps on their handsets, there’s a microSD card slot for adding 32GB of extra locker room. This Wi-Fi-enabled phone houses a 1350mAh Li-ion battery which apparently delivers up to 4 hours of talk time or 120 hours of standby time. Lastly, the body weighs a light 85g and measures 67.2mm x 121mm x 12.2mm.

Head to Flipkart if you want to lay hands on the Micromax smartphone. Other retailers don’t appear to have stocked it yet.
