A recent report by China’s CCID Consulting states that the country’s mobile production is expected to hit 605 million in 2008. This data on the production of mobile phones in China is way above the 550 million mobiles produced in 2007.
Estimation is that nearly 66 % i.e., about 400 million units of the total production will be exported to overseas market. The remaining 205 million units should be sold in the domestic market.
Chinese mobile manufacturers have produced nearly 279 million cellphones in the first half of 2008 according to current data. Of these 96.4 million were consumed in China. Additionally, the world’s top five vendors namely Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG accounted for nearly 65 % of the total production. This figure has receded from the 70 to 80 % in the past two years.
The Chinese market has seen a rise of nearly 17.5 % in the January-June period of this year.
