Xiaomi begins selling accessories via Mi India website

Xiaomi devices have exclusively been available from Flipkart since the company made its debut in India, but it looks like the OEM is slowly establishing its own retail presence in the country as you can now purchase accessories directly from the Mi website. Currently only a couple of earphones and smartphone cases are available and more products are likely to be added in the coming weeks.

Basically, Xiaomi will not be doing the shipping part as that is taken up by authorized distributors. When purchasing a product from the Mi website, you’ll be able to see the seller details. You will need to have a Mi account in order to checkout stuff directly from the company.

Xiaomi Mi India Store

The online store is selling a flip case for the Redmi Note at Rs 559, a soft gel protective cover at Rs 369 and Mi in-ear headphones at Rs 799. It was back in February that Xiaomi’s India Head, Manu Jain, revealed the company’s plans of offering smartphones through its Mi website. He noted that it would take anywhere between three to nine months to get things set up.

Clearly, the Xiaomi’s plans are moving smoothly, but the main question is will it continue to partner with Flipkart to offer new products in the future? That’s something only time will tell and we expect to see the Mi power banks reach the official store in the coming days as they’re listed as out of stock on the ecommerce website.

Additionally, Xiaomi has big things planned for India as it wants to setup around 100 experience centers across the country. There’s also talk about manufacturing handsets in Chennai which is said to commence by the end of June or in early July.
