ZTE Star 2 voice controlled phone with high-end specs and LTE launched in China

The ZTE Star 2 smartphone has been officially launched in China and the handset is all set to make its international appearance at the CES 2015 expo next month. The new release is a flagship with high-end hardware and has some pretty impressive software as well.

The ZTE Star 2 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, but the highlight is its system-wide voice control which allows you to get stuff done without touching the device. Over 1000 patents have been leveraged into the handset and 158 of them are voice control related. According to the company, the speech recognition solution will be accessible when offline and it has a response rate of 1.2 seconds.

The success rate is also pretty good at 90% and ZTE notes that these figures can be achieved even in noisy ambiance conditions. The feature basically allows you to unlock the phone, access any application, snap up images and also play music, all without lifting a finger. There’s real-time voice-to-text input as well, and the phone will support China Mobile’s new RCS service.

The ZTE smartphone also impresses with great hardware such as the 2.3GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 SOC, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The phone has a 2300mAh battery, while visuals are delivered through a 5-inch 1080p display on the front.
