ZTE smartphones to extend its reach in UK markets through Brightpoint

ZTE And Brighpoint DealBrightpoint and ZTE have signed an agreement together which would enable wider availability of the latter’s smartphones and devices in the UK as well as Brightpoint’s retail and online stores.

Till now, ZTE’s growth strategies have involved partnerships and deals with some of the most popular European service providers, which have supposedly proved quite successful. This agreement is believed to make ZTE step out of the white-labeling business and into the growing arena of smartphones.

Wu Sa, director of mobile device operations, ZTE UK explained, “The success of the ZTE Blade, and the overwhelmingly positive reception at this year’s Mobile World Congress of the forthcoming Skate device, demonstrate that ZTE is set to become a key player in the smartphone sector. We chose to work with Brightpoint since its strategy dovetails with ours. ZTE made a commitment at the start of 2011 to alter its strategy from being a feature phone-centric supplier to producing much higher-end smartphones and delivering an enhanced user experience to the mass market. We are working closely with Brightpoint to launch smartphones into the UK market this year. We expect ZTE to become a household name synonymous with high quality smartphones and tablets.”

ZTE also announced that through this deal it would aim to bolster the mobile phone sales volume in the UK market and then extend to USA and whole of Europe by strategizing its marketing techniques. Furthermore, the company expects to ship 80 million devices this year, which is 20 million more than it did in 2010.
