ZTE Grand Era U985 ‘slimmest quad core smartphone’ unveiled in China

The ZTE Grand Era U985 is gearing up to toddle into China within a few days, following a launch at the PT/Expo event in the country. The last we heard from the same quarters, it was regarding the unveiling of the company’s new Intel-based device.

Taking about the particulars of this new handset, it is equipped with an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor. It is powered by the Ice Cream Sandwich platform with no mention of Jelly Bean as of now. The device also drags along 3D acceleration capacity for proffering enhanced graphics. It is all set to operate on the TD-SCDMA network in China.

In terms of other hardware specifications, the smartphone wears a 4.5-inch HD retinal screen rendering images in a resolution of 1280 × 720p. The rear panel is embedded with an 8MP BSI autofocus HD camera for capturing stills and videos. Going by its ‘ultra-thin’ tag, the device’s profile measures 8.6mm in average thickness and cuts down to 7.9mm at its sleekest areas.

“The Grand Era has opened the door to the quad-core era for ZTE smart phones. We believe these products will produce a butterfly effect across the industry, domestically and abroad,” commented ZTE Executive Vice President, He Shiyou.

On the software front, the handset offers a device security suite dubbed Palm Manager that has been tailored by the company to control mobile phone threats. It is inclusive of both software and hardware components that protect user details and check permissions for downloaded apps in order to provide secure web access on the smartphone.

The ZTE Grand Era U985 price is not clear at present.
