Zap2it brings ‘What’s On?’ version 2.02 to iPhone

Zap2it iPhone users can now enjoy rich entertaining content with the upgraded version of ‘What’s On?’ Zap2it.com of Tribune Media Services and Napkin Studio launch the version 2.02 of ‘What’s On?’, the first-to market entertainment guide app for the iPhone. The new version offers rich content from Zap2it with useful functionality from Napkin Studio providing entertainment enthusiasts an integrated new, multimedia and local listing solution.

The latest version offers new content that includes “The Buzz” featuring Zap2it’s up-to-the-minute TV, movie and celebrity news, show recaps and photo galleries. It also includes Movie showtimes from Zap2it and movie trailers from Zap2it partner ScreenPlay. Furthermore, the version also offers enhanced user interface, rich search and favorites functionality along with faster speed.

Napkin Studio adds the reminder functionality to this latest version based on requests of first-generation app users. With the reminder, users can save alerts for favorite shows on their devices so that they don’t miss any. This proprietary feature incorporates the Apple Push Notification Service that is unique to this new release.

Standard 480 x 55 and 320 x 55 units and a high-impact interstitial unit covers messaging on the phone screen, represents newest additions to the Zap2it’s portfolio of creative marketing solutions.

The first advertiser to take advantage of the new interstitial unit on the new What’s On? app is the premium cable network Starz. The network utilized the mobile ad as one element of a broader “tune-in” campaign on Zap2it to promote the Season Two premiere of original series “Crash”.

Users can download this app available at the Apple iTunes Store or the Zap2it website for free. The initial version has been downloaded more than 7,50,000 times after its release in 2008.
