Yovo is a simple photo sharing app that restricts your pics from becoming screenshots

A new app for sharing photos has surfaced under the name Yovo and it tackles the issue of people taking screenshots of your images when shared through social networks and IM services. The Yovo application basically leverages optical illusion to prevent anyone from taking a screen-grab and it uses a pretty impressive technique to achieve its goal.

The problem of users taking screenshots of shared content has particularly been an issue for Snapchat which lets you send self-destructing images and videos that disappear after a set period of time. Well, this won’t be a hitch with Yovo as it uses a patent-pending scrambling technology.

The D-fence privacy filter is the main highlight of the application as it allows you to blur out the entire image or a select part of it. And the hidden contents can be easily viewed by simply tapping the picture. Doing so creates a Barrier Grid illusion and if anyone was to take a screenshot with the filter active, the picture would be partially blurred, as is visible in the picture embedded above.

The video below demonstrates the D-fence privacy filter in a jiffy. The Yovo application can do a lot more than just allow you to blur pictures. It even lets you set the image to self-destruct in just a matter of a second or after 24 hours.

You can share images to social networks like Facebook and Twitter where they will be accessible via external URLs to the Yovo website. The screenshot-disabling app also has its own timeline and private messenger built-in so that you can stay connected and share with friends without the need of posting content on any other service.

The Yovo application is currently available for iOS devices only and at no cost. But an Android version is said to be in the works with a release slated for the coming weeks.
