Yatra.com scribbles Renew Domain Name on To Do list after site goes down

Yatra.com went down earlier today because someone forgot to renew the domain name. If you booked any tickets through this site and had trouble accessing it for cancellations or so on, you now know why. We’re not sure how long the portal spent on its unintentional pit stop, but the website currently appears to be almost back to normal even if two links saying Backorder Domain and Renew Now can be seen to the far right of the logo.

SlideShare co-founder Amit Ranjan, tweeted this news along with a photo showing the mobile version of the site marked by ‘This domain has expired.’ The @YatraHolidays Twitter account was spotted informing customers to dial 1860-5000-500 for any cancelation or rescheduling requirements. Considering how popular the Indian online travel agency is, the blooper has undoubtedly put a sizable dent in business.

Yatra Website

Back in May 2011, comScore declared the company to be in the topmost position in the travel space. It was claimed to have roughly 3.1 million unique visitors in March 2011 and to boast of a year-on-year growth of 84% since March 2010. Those planning a holiday, business trip or something similar can look up the website for tourism packages, car rentals, hotel bookings, railway reservations, good flight deals and so on.

As for the Yatra.com domain name, it is shown to have been registered on August 9, 2000. It has presently been renewed for a year, meaning the company will need to do the same on August 9, 2014. So we’re assuming it has added ‘Renew Domain Name’ to the To Do list for early August 2014.
