Xolo Q1000 Opus ditches MediaTek CPU for a Broadcom one, coming later this month

Xolo has just gone on to announce that its upcoming Q1000 Opus smartphone will have a Broadcom processor onboard as opposed to a MediaTek one which is a staple for most low-cost devices here in India. Not much has been told about this upcoming handset, but it can be observed that it’s a successor to the Q1000S which had been released in August this year. So you can expect an upgraded list of specifications.

The reception and success of the Xolo Q1000 Opus could very determine if future smartphones from the said company as well as others will consider incorporating Broadcom processors with their offerings. The component which will be housed by this handset is the Broadcom BCM23550 quad core processor which comes with HSPA+ support. For further connectivity, it relies on its BCM4334 combo chip and a BCM4752 multi-constellation GNSS location chip.

Wi-Fi support will of course be present on the unit, but a highlight is the fact that it will also be compatible with the Miracast technology which allows wireless streaming of the phone’s content on other devices. Sunil Raina, who’s the business head at Xolo has disclosed that the upcoming Q1000 Opus will kick in a 5-inch screen, which is no surprise since both its predecessors – the Q1000 and the Q1000S – feature a same-sized display. These devices can be purchased now at Rs 12,499 and Rs 15,799, respectively.

While Xolo has indeed mentioned that the Q1000 Opus will be made available at an affordable price later this month, its actual cost still remains a mystery, just like its other specifications.
