Xiaomi Mi Edge with curved display leaked, could rival Galaxy S6 Edge

The Xiaomi Mi Edge could be battling head on with Samsung in the future if rumors of the new phone series with a dual-edged display are true. Earlier speculations called it the Mi Arch, but that’s been debunked, going by the latest round of buzz surrounding the handset.

The smartphone’s design looks similar to the one seen in the Galaxy S6 Edge+. It appears to have a curved front surface that wraps around the back. The Xiaomi Mi Edge is supposed to have a 5.2-inch screen with a 2K resolution display from Sharp measuring 2560 x 1440p and a pixel density of 565ppi.

The two edges may present notifications for games, stock market updates and shortcuts to apps. According to Chinese tech blog mobile-dad, the Mi Edge’s look is inspired by a combination of the Mi Note and the Galaxy S6 Edge. It could have a metal build and be enclosed within a metal frame as well.

The other specs leaked so far seem to suggest it could be a premium offering by the manufacturer. Under the hood, the Xiaomi phone may possibly run on 3GB or 4GB of RAM and a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor combined with an Adreno 418 GPU.

Also on the cards are a fingerprint scanner and a 16MP main camera, likely with Optical Image Stabilization. The features revealed up till now seem pretty similar to the ones found on Samsung’s flagship device, which costs Rs 57900. The Mi Edge on the other hand, may perhaps be priced at $391 or roughly Rs 26000.

That’s a huge difference and could make the rumored handset a game-changer. Tipsters say the device might get announced in October this year. We’ll keep you updated on any happenings around the Xiaomi Mi Edge till then.
