Giving avid bloggers more room to scribble out their thoughts, WordPress for iOS v3.1 has gone live. Claimed to be the ‘biggest update ever,’ the application has been optimized for the iPhone as well as the iPad.
This iteration puts forth an altogether new interface with elements like a redesigned welcome screen, Reader, Quick Photo, friend finder and more. With the Reader, users can peruse their favorite content covering friends’ blogs, interesting topics and Freshly Pressed posts.
The Quick Photo function that was seen in the iPhone has now been tossed in for Cupertino’s slate as well. With this attribute, the tablet’s integrated camera can be used to snap up images or choose one from the library to serve as profile pictures or random images.
Hunting down friends from other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter just got easy and can be done from within the application itself. Besides, phonebook contacts can be searched for locating other blogs. Users can also keep a check on the number of views they receive with the Stats displayed within the utility.

It’s most noticeable on the iPad: a sliding panels interface enables you to quickly get to any part of the app and rediscover your content,” states a post on the official WordPress blog.
A rather helpful feature dubbed Post Formats is part of the new version. Bloggers need to select a Post Format to modify the appearance of their posts. The changes can be made only for themes which support this attribute. Some other enhancements include all-round landscape support, easy site and dashboard access, along with a new post preview for iPad.
