Windows 8.1 to come pre-loaded with Skype this October

Skype has been added on the list of services that will come pre-loaded on the upcoming Windows 8.1 platform. And this news has been revealed by none other than Microsoft itself which has stated that the company has been developing an ‘expanding base’ of consumer services, some of which also include Bing, Internet Explorer, SkyDrive and more.

The software maker has explained the importance of the service being served on the platform by highlighting the significance of staying in touch. The forthcoming OS’ user interface will sport a Live Tile dedicated to Skype and all it will take is logging in to make the most of the app.

Skype Integration With Windows 8.1

It isn’t that the utility is a new. But if we had to describe it in a few words, Skype is a VoIP service which came into existence in the year 2003 and went on to be purchased by the Redmond-based company a couple of years ago. It currently prides itself at maintaining roughly 300 million active users.

Microsoft has promised to roll out updates to the app on a regular basis, while pointing out that it has paid heed to all the feedback given from the time when Skype had been released for W8. And it has no intention of putting an end to this practice, the company claims.

So look for Skype along with hordes of other apps in Windows 8.1 which has been slated to arrive on October 17. Those who would like to get a taste of the upcoming platform for now, can download its pre-release version.
