A new initiative to aid individuals suffering from poor eyesight, dexterity and hearing issues has arrived in the form of the Vodafone 155 handset. The fact that it is a simple-to-use device devoid of complex functionalities sets it apart from regular smartphones.

The newly unveiled entrant sports an ergonomic form-factor that makes it an ideal companion for even the elderly. The phone is equipped with an oversized keypad which would make the numbers and letters more legible. Another important feature is the sliding keylock located on the side panel that avoid accidental dialing.

The package is bundled with a charging dock and a dedicated SOS button which automatically calls and texts the number that is assigned to it. Furthermore, the knob also triggers a loud sound in order to alert the nearby public. This system could serve as an emergency hotline for users who are worried about the whereabouts of their friends and family members.

The offering also incorporates a loud speaker that is integrated with noise cancellation technology to make the aural experience fruitful. A 1.7-inch display is transfixed over a profile of 110mm x 56.5mm x 13.5mm, making it apparently convenient to view content clearly on it. Furthermore, the phone supports 2G network as well as GPRS, GSM and EDGE capabilities.

As stated on Unwiredview, the gadget offers 10 hours of talk time and 700 hours of standby time. The Vodafone 155 price is marked at £25 and it is available on a Pay as you go plan.
