Entertainment enthusiasts can now experience higher-quality video with the latest capability introduced by VMIX. The company endows its mobile video SDK fashioned for the iPhone and Android devices with Wi-Fi switching. This latest feature is also extended to the Apple iPad.

“We see this as a simple way to optimize the everyday video experience for mobile users. The video application automatically detects whether the mobile device is using a cellular or Wi-Fi connection at play time and serves the appropriate video format, reducing usage on users’ cellular networks,” stated Greg Kostello, Co-Founder and CTO at VMIX.

With this new inclusion, video apps based on the VMIX platform will take advantage of quicker Wi-Fi connections for offering higher-quality video. Cellular delivery will be enabled when handset users traverse out of the Wi-Fi zone. The Wi-Fi switching is also claimed to aid developers abide with the needs of carriers and device-manufacturers for unveiling media usage across their cellular networks.

The latest offering is noted to be part of VMIX’s ongoing updates for the mobile development kit. A video-upload capability is also provided for Android handsets through this inclusion. Owners of iOS-based devices can already take advantage of this upload via the VMIX SDK.
