Virgin Media rings in with free landline to mobile calls

Virgin Media Logo The best things in life may come for free. Until now, it did not include keeping in touch with loved ones over the phone. Virgin Media has revealed plans to offer free Virgin Phone to Virgin Mobile calls to their customers across the U.K. This new proposal will allow Virgin Media subscribers to save on call charges through free landline to mobile phone calls.

“At a time when other providers seem keen on giving their customers less from their phone service, we are extremely proud to be leading the way in this field, being the first to offer free home phone to mobile calls. Our successful quadplay strategy has demonstrated customers are looking for exceptional value by bundling more services together, and this move to include free calls to mobiles with our home phone service underlines our commitment to ensure Virgin Media customers get the best deals possible,” remarked Graeme Oxby, executive director of mobile and telephony, Virgin Media.

The free calls are extended with Size M weekend-only, L weekday evenings and 24/7 XL plans, the latter two of which cost £3.45 and £7.95 per month. Subscribers have to shell out a line rental of £11.99 each month for all three tariff plans. Virgin Media currently provides home phone, mobile phone, broadband and television services. 10% of the company’s clientele subscribe to ‘quadplay’ or all four services. Of these, almost 0.5 million customers and over 4 million Virgin Phone clients will be able to benefit from the new offer.

Virgin Media’s free Virgin Phone to Virgin Mobile call offer will be rolled out from April 1, 2010 onwards across the U.K.
