Videocon Infinium Z40Q Star and Infinium Z50Q Star smartphones unveiled in India

Two new budget-friendly Android smartphones going by the names Videocon Infinium Z40Q Star and Infinium Z50Q Star have been launched in India with price tags of Rs 4499 and Rs 5999 attached to them. Staying true to how much buyers will have to pay for them, the handsets sport low end specifications designed for the mass market.

The Videocon Infinium Z50Q Star has a 5-inch FWVGA 480 x 854p IPS screen and 1GB RAM. It gets its kicks from Android KitKat 4.4, a 1.2GHz quad core processor and a 2000mAh battery. Since the 4GB of internal memory is likely to fall short of your hoarding needs, the company has also slipped in a microSD card slot for adding 32GB of extra space.

Set to be made available in red, blue and white color options, the phone has a 5MP camera on the back panel and a 0.3MP one above the display on the front. The usual connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are also stuffed into it. The Infinium Z40Q Star (pictured above) is a 4-inch smartphone embedding two SIM card slots and a quad core chip clocked at a rate of 1.2GHz.

The handset works on Android KitKat out-of-the-box and a measly 512MB of RAM. Just like the Infinium Z50Q Star, it delivers 4GB of ROM along with memory expandability of up to 32GB. A less powerful 1500mAh battery keeps it going between charges. The camera specifications stay the same, with a 0.3MP front lens that’s totally not awesome for selfies and a 5MP snapper on the back.

Videocon Mobile Phones‘ Jerold Pereira says that the brand intends to support the Digital India program by offering budget-friendly devices to the market. The company had adopted the tried and tested strategy of bringing more variety to customers in the hope of building a wider user base. It’s not like the two new Infinium series phones are vastly different from others in its portfolio.

We’re yet to hear on the exact release dates of the Videocon Infinium Z50Q Star and Infinium Z40Q Star handsets.
