All 10000 units of the Micromax’s Yu Yureka vanished from Amazon India within 3 seconds of today’s sale being flagged off. At 2pm, the third batch of the Cynogen-based smartphone was made available for grabs. For those who missed it, registration for the next race to buy the handset is now open.
As for the claim of 10000 units of the Yu Yureka getting sold out in 3 seconds, you may want to swallow it hesitantly, with a pinch of salt. Earlier this month, there were allegations about the company having fudged the figures with regards to the handset’s first ever sale. It was reported that only 2657 pieces were purchased by customers, even though 10000 were supposedly picked up.
Instead of reacting to these accusations with a proper defense, Amazon India and Micromax chose to keep mum. The two appear ready to continue playing the way Xiaomi does, though they will have to be careful about covering their tracks in the future, assuming there are any to hide. On January 22, more Yu Yureka devices were made available again, rendering today’s to be the third flash sale.
The laws governing e-commerce are quite inadequate in India since this sector is relatively new. So in case you feel misled by companies declaring unbelievable online sales figures to increase the popularity of their products, we don’t know if anything can be done. But we don’t claim to be knowledgeable on murky legal issues anyway and boasts like these don’t seem harmful on the surface.
