Verizon Wireless sets new cell site in Shelton, Connecticut

Verizon Wireless Logo Verizon Wireless has expanded its network by setting up a new cell site in Shelton, Connecticut. It brings to users an enhanced web browsing speed and quicker page loads. These services will be experienced with absolute clarity and reduced number of dropped calls.

Users will largely benefit from the placement of the new cell site such as faster page loading, downloading and music playing capability. With an average download speed of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps along with an average speed of 500 to 800 Kbps, users will get uninterrupted access to emails, file downloads and more. It will merely take 8 to 13 seconds to download and upload an attachment, respectively. This one byte email attachment will be equal to a large PDF file or a small PowerPoint presentation.

On-demand videos of breaking news, weather, sports highlights and even the latest entertainment clips will keep users updated. They can also indulge in playing and downloading exciting 3D games and video conferences along with speedy file sharing. Through the Rhapsody’s desktop service, users can load their handsets with music and also connect their phone to a PC. They can go and buy music online by downloading the master copy of the tracks and albums.

Until now, Verizon Wireless has invested nearly $50 billion with the objective to enhance the wireless voice and data coverage. It also includes new 3G services such as Mobile Broadband and V Cast. The company has invested approximately $2.4 billion into its New England network including $240 million in 2008 alone, in the last nine years.
