Verizon Wireless brings Push to Talk for BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone

Verizon Wireless logo Verizon Wireless has announced the availability of the Push to Talk service on the BlackBerry 9630 smartphone. This service can be used by both BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Server users via the BlackBerry Tour.

The Push to Talk service aims at providing instant two-way communication for field workers in an array of industries right from construction to public safety and presents benefits such as communication with the push of a button. Users can engage in group calling with up to 50 participants, check on counterparts Push to Talk service availability with the presence feature and also manage contacts of the entire organization with the online contact management tool.

“Extending Push to Talk to the BlackBerry Tour from Verizon Wireless offers business customers a single device for instant communication plus the enterprise-grade security and robust business communications capabilities people have come to expect from a BlackBerry smartphone from Verizon Wireless. These features, coupled with the nation’s most reliable wireless network, mean customers have the ultimate in productivity tools,” remarks Mark Bartolomeo, Vice President, Global Enterprise Marketing Verizon Wireless.

Users can add the service to their existing plans either via telephone or online as per their convenience. Once that the service is added, users can download it from the Application centre or through VZStart through their mobile phones. Following this, the convenience key on the left side of the device transforms into the Push to Talk button.

The service is being offered by Verizon Wireless for a limited time only, following activation with a qualifying voice plan from BlackBerry data plan.
