Verizon Wireless has announced a number of applications for the new Motorola Droid which are aimed at helping frequent travelers organize their daily schedules.

The applications from Verizon Channel include My Verizon which enables users to log on to their Verizon Wireless accounts to check balances, usage numbers and payment updates and also to revise the features, services and Family SharePlan lines. Besides this the user can also use the Visual Voice Mail application. With this application, the user can access voice messages simply by using visual voice mail and then scrolling through the inbox to read messages, reply to them or delete them. Users can also reply to the messages via call or text message. This application can be subscribed to at a fee of $2.99/month.

Furthermore, the V CAST Media Manager is a zero cost application which allows users to sync their pictures, videos and music with their computers or the Motorola Droid. They can even edit photos, create albums to mail them to friends and family, burn music CDs and import playlists. Users addicted to the idiot box can carry their own TV while on the go. With Verizon FiOS Mobile, users can watch their favorite TV programs on their mobile handset anywhere, anytime. This application which comes free and permits Droid users to sync their phone with the FiOS Mobile application and also view TV listings and lists of recorded programs.

There are three more applications that Verizon has announced. These include the FiOS Mobile remote application which allows users to control their TVs via their phones. With the application, Droid users can view pictures from their handset directly on their TVs. Moreover incase of a phone call, the TV can be muted to attend the call. Users, who like changing ringtones and ringback tones often, can now do so with the free VZW Tones 4.0 application. With the help of this application, users can check a number of ringtones and ringback tones and make purchases as well. With the ScanLife Barcode Reader application, users can compare products without typing or searching for it. The user simply needs to point the camera on their Droid handsets at the product and the compared result can be viewed. With this free application, the user’s Droid handset is turned into a 2D barcode scanning device for all major barcodes.

These applications can be downloaded from the Android market directly. The Droid smartphone from Motorola has already been launched and can be purchased either online from verizonwireless.com or from the Verizon Wireless Communications Stores at a price of $199.99.
