Motorola is planning to unveil an Android handset dubbed Sholes, reports Engadget. Rumor has it that the handset would be introduced in the US by Verizon.

Reportedly, the Android driven handset sports a 3.7-inch touchscreen with 480 x 854 resolution. The slider comes with 512MB storage, 256MB RAM and provides support for microSD or microSDHC slot of up to 16GB. The QWERTY handset incorporates a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus functionality.

Apparently, the handset might as well support CDMA and EVDO Rev A. The Motorola mobile phone features GPS, USB, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity. It supports AMR-NB/WB, MP3, PCM / WAV, AAC, AAC +, eAAC + and WMA audio formats. Further, it supposedly comes with support for MPEG-4, H263, H264 and WMV video formats.

The dimensions of the handset are 60mm x 115.80mm x 13.70 mm and it weighs 169g. The Android phone would probably include an embedded HTML browser.

The pricing and availability details are not yet known, but it looks like the Sholes would hit the stores by October, 2009.
