The Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ smartphone has marked the debut of the Devices section of the Google Play Store, as it is the first gadget to be made available in the US through the web store. The phone in question is an unlocked version and comes sans contracts or carrier commitments, informs the official Google Mobile blog.

The Ice Cream Sandwich based handset flaunts a 4.65-inch capacitive HD Super AMOLED multi-touch display. The 1.2GHz dual core processor teams up with 1GB RAM to carry out multiple operations at the same time. Some other specifications of the phone are inclusive of a 5MP camera, a front-facing imager for video calling purposes, 16GB internal memory and more.

“We started shipping Nexus phones more than two years ago to give you a pure Google experience and access to the latest Android updates. Today, we’ve started selling Galaxy Nexus (HSPA+) from a new Devices section in the Google Play web store, so you can quickly and easily purchase an unlocked version of the phone. We want to give you a place to purchase Nexus devices that work really well with your digital entertainment,” quoted Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President of Mobile and Digital content.

The Android 4.0 OS utilized in the Galaxy Nexus is responsible for features like Face Unlock, Android Beam, Google+ mobile hangouts, Google Mobile services and more. The company’s Google Wallet app has also been included along with $10 credit. It can be used with GSM networks of service providers like T-Mobile and AT&T.

The unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ price and availability read $399 and purchasable through the Google Play web store, respectively.
