In order to entice more consumers from the Indian market, RIM (Research in Motion) has teamed up with Redington India to introduce ‘unlocked’ versions of Blackberry.
This spells great news for fans of BlackBerry but who desire to have their own choice of mobile service provider. At present, Blackberry is only available with carriers like Reliance Communications, Airtel and Vodafone. Sources also say that Blackberry intends to cash in the lucrative Indian market with the introduction of price conscious, less sophisticated versions of the popular handset.
So far, RIM has pushed 13 handsets into the Indian market, the newest one being BlackBerry Storm. This is the first touchscreen phone from RIM, which is giving Apple iPhone a good run for its money.
