Twitter for Android and iOS update deliberates on search enhancements

The updated version of Twitter for Android and iOS owners has been rolled out, thrusting the app to version 3.8 for the former and edition 5.4 for the latter. Well, users of the said OS’ aren’t the only ones who get to wet their feet in this trickling upgrade, considering the social network’s mobile site too will be blessed with one.

This time, Twitter has mainly focused on search enhancements within the app. For instance, all those out there who would’ve thought of musing over a tweet from the long past, but weren’t able to due to certain limitations of the app, will now be able to do just that. Keeping in mind that no one wants an additional set of information when they go scavenging for news, the utility puts forth only those tweets which garnered a fair share of attention.

Remember pull-to-refresh on Discover? Yes, that should now exhibit new and smoother animation. This should cover most of what the fresh upgrade brings for Android, however, iOS faithfuls can look forward to additional improvements. Firstly, the autocomplete recommendations have been tweaked to proffer more hashtags, topics and monikers of relevant accounts, whilst composing a tweet on the iPhone or the iPad.

Clicking on a new link no longer means that owners will have to give up the current news, seeing as developers have managed to make space for the tweet to squeeze in towards the bottom of the web page. The main idea behind this introduction is to give users the liberty to retweet, reply or favorite, while viewing content that is off the network. In an event they find the tray icon unnecessary, a tap would suffice to get rid of it.

Furthermore, tweets will be followed by a conversation list showcasing all the replies they have drawn. The app will now support native Chinese language and at the same time, it will no more be compatible with Mobypicture, Vodpod and Posterous. And lastly, only those with gadgets running version 6 of Apple’s OS will be presented with logout support.
