Twitter adds Russian and Turkish language support

Twitter logoEarlier at the beginning of this year, Twitter added Korean to its list of featured languages. Now according to a recent official blog post, Twitter is available in two new languages namely Russian and Turkish for Android handset users.

The social networking site revealed that these two languages were added to their Translation Center about two months ago. Twitter fanatics will now be able to access both of these newly-added languages on mobile.twitter.com as well as twitter.com.

Twitter also made quite a few interesting recommendations, including Ezgi Basaran, a journalist in Turkey and Russian TV host and comedian Ivan Urgant. Currently, the availability of Russian and Turkish languages is only limited to Android-powered devices. This means that all the other platform-based handset owners will simply have to wait a bit longer.

In the company’s blog announcement, the company said that it has already started working on extending the support of these languages to other mobile applications in the near future. They have further translated the SMS commands and replies into Turkish, while Twitter SMS is already available with Vodafone in Turkey.

After the recent addition of the Russian and Turkish language support, users can now apparently tweet in nine different languages.
