TRAI extends form submissions deadline for digital cable TV subscribers

This piece of news via TRAI about the extensions in deadline for submitting consumer application forms (CAFs) in India should come as a relief to all those Digital Addressable Cable TV subscribers who are yet to turn in their respective documents. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has introduced the final extension and has announced July 10 to be the last day.

Basically, in these forms the government body seeks to receive details about customers as well as the kind of content they prefer. This will be done by asking them to provide information about their favorite channels and other services available in the nation. Only recently, the organization had scheduled a meeting with Multi System Operators (MSOs) in order to review data that they collected through their subscriber management systems.

Given the enormity of the task, it is obvious that the MSOs will need a lot of time to bring all the data together. This is why, these bodies failed to collect complete information from all of the digital cable subscribers and asked for some more time. Understandably, TRAI has taken into consideration, the MSOs’ request and has extended the margin.

Although not all people have turned in the forms, the organization notes that there is a substantial increase in the number of users who have paid heed to the announcement. TRAI reveals that the move has been made to ensure that customers do not face inconvenience as those who fail to submit their details will not have a cable connection. MSOs will have no other option apart from disconnecting set top boxes in such an event, or they will be held responsible for not following the law.

For refresher’s sake, all Digital Addressable Cable TV subscribers will have to make sure that they provide details through consumer application forms before July 10, as per the instructions of TRAI or the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
