Realizing the importance of virtual connectivity, TiVo decided to grace its iPhone app with the social function of Facebook. The latest update to the TiVo app for the iPhone is the addition of a customized Facebook feature.
The incorporation of this feature within the app will now offer users social TV functionality. Consumers can connect their television schedules and preferences with their Facebook friends and family, by integrations such as Watch and Like.
“When we launched the TiVo apps for iPhone and iPad earlier this year, we did so with the goal of expanding the ways TiVo lovers can interact with people, the web, and the entertainment they’re viewing while they watch TV. With this improved Facebook integration, TiVo users can discover things to watch from the new social guide, and can feature their entertainment experiences and choices with their friends,” explained Jim Denney, Vice President and General Manager of product marketing for TiVo. “Through full integration with the set-top box, TiVo is defining the future of Social TV by offering a new way for people to connect and interact on the second screen in a way that is fully integrated with their actual TV watching experience.”
The Watch feature allows users to view what shows their friends are currently enjoying while Like lets them endorse or discover preferred shows. These new services are additions to existing search, browse and recommendation functions.
The new Facebook integration to the TiVo app for the iPhone will release later this year. The app is presently available from iTunes and Apple App Store.
