Five time Grammy award winning music producer Timbaland has entered into a collaboration of another kind. No, it’s not Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado or any other artist. This time around, Timbaland has joined hands with network operator Verizon to create the first ever mobile album!
Timbaland is now a part of the Mobile Producer in Residence program hosted by Verizon.
Producer Timbaland who is known for collaborating with today’s hottest music artists will also be working with a different artist each month while recording tracks on the Verizon Mobiel Recording Studio Bus. He will collaborate with guest artists on a monthly basis through 2008.
Timbaland’s first mobile album will exclusively be available to Verizon V Cast customers.
Here is what the main man Timbaland has to say about his latest collaboration, “I am honored to be named Verizon’s first Mobile Producer in Residence and have the opportunity to create music from so many places in the country, and deliver it directly to my fans wherever they are through their mobile phones.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with many different artists aboard the studio on wheels and taking fans into our recording sessions to see how we do it,” he said.
The hip-hop mogul explains, “Every place don’t get a CD but everybody has a mobile phone. Just producing a mobile album has never been done. I’m the first to ever do it.”
Okay, now here’s what you can expect out of the Timbaland-Verizon team up. The first track will be available as a download, ringtone and ringback in a few days! It will feature none other than the hot R&B singer Keri Hilson herself. Well, in case you are not a Timbaland fan, then one of his hit songs from the latest Shock Value album was Keri Hilson’s “The Way I Are.”
Verizon plans to release an exclusive compilation album by the end of 2008.
“I’m just going to have fun with it,” Timbaland says. “I’ll just do what comes in mind.”
