Tata Teleservice unravels Kirusa’s ‘Call-n-Tweet’ for India subscribers

Call-n-TweetTweeting aficionados can hoot in glee, as a new service in India is going to give their thumbs a rest. Tata Teleservices launches Kirusa’s innovative ‘Call-n-Tweet’ service. This service can be availed by all TTSL and TTML subscribers. Users can now change their Twitter status with voice tweets rather than forcing their thumbs to type out those messages. These short audio snippets or voice tweets can be posted without going online via their handsets.

“Kirusa has proved its robustness in bringing an innovative social networking service to the market. The introduction of Call-n-Tweet service on our network would give our subscribers a very convenient and personal way to tweet without logging on the internet. Voice tweets would enable them to add a personal touch to their status updates,” states Lloyd Mathias, Chief Marketing Officer, Tata Teleservices Limited.

“Access to social networking sites is the next reality check for carriers in Mobile Value Add Services. These sites are firing the imagination of young generation nowadays,” commented Taranjit Singh Batra, VP Sales of Kirusa. “To enable them to log in and leave updates is a functionality which no carrier can afford to ignore today.”

The Call-n-Tweet service is said to leverage on Kirusa’s robust Voice SMS ability. It can be availed by signing up through their Twitter account details. Users can send voice tweets by dialing 50007 to update their Twitter status. Interestingly, a voice tweet can cross the 140 character threshold, plus users can speak in any language.

Each voice tweet will cost socializing buffs Re. 0.80. Only time can tell whether the Call-n-Tweet service will strike a note with Twitter fans all over India.
