The widespread rumor in the tech world right now is the cutting down of iPhone prices by AT&T and Verizon for its retailers, Target and Radio Shack. These price cuts for Apple’s iconic smartphone models were probably expected considering the likely mid- September arrival of the iPhone 5. Whenever a newer version preps up to hit the markets, the older ones experience a downward costing trend.
As Engadget reports, the AT&T version of the iPhone 4, which comes for $269.99, will be reportedly sold via Radio Shack at a price of $169.99 with a two year contract for the 16GB model. Similarly the iPhone 4 32GB model is also reportedly going to experience a $30 price cut by being attached with a new tag of $269.99. The iPhone 3GS 8GB model’s price will apparently dip to $19.99.
Target has also supposedly slashed the costs of the device’s different versions. It seems that the iPhone 4 16GB model can be bought by coughing up a sum of $149.99 for the AT&T as well as Verizon versions. While the latter may have reduced the price of the 32GB iPhone 4 model to $249.99, AT&T’s model is slated to remain available at the same at $299.99. The price of the 8GB iPhone 3GS is likely to be the same as that in Radio Shack, $19.99.
Other retailers and carriers may also follow suit and slash the prices of the iPhone 4 a month before the arrival of its latest version. To make room for the iPhone 5 but at the same time not lose out on the sales of the iPhone 4, the price deductions will probably be applied soon.
