Alibaba Cloud Computing takes to the sky with the launch of their home brewed Aliyun mobile cloud operating system. Aiming towards handsets and tablets of well knows developers, the company plans on having their OS integrated in to these devices in the future.

Along with web-based applications as the distinct feature, the OS comprises services like email, internet search, weather updates and navigation tools such as GPS and mapping. Having no download or installation of software required, users can enjoy an internet-like experience on their mobile phone. With the AliCloud remote data canter, information like contacts, call logs, text messages, notes and photos can be synchronized, stored, backed up, updated and accessed on all PCs and mobile devices running the operating system.

Wang Jian, president of Alibaba Cloud Computing commented, “Mobile users want a more open and convenient mobile OS, one that allows them to truly enjoy all that the Internet has to offer right in the palm of their hand, and the cloud OS, with its use of cloud-based applications, will provide that. Introducing cloud apps to mobile devices not only brings a whole new user experience, but also greater ease for third-party mobile software developers who will be able to use Internet technology such as HTML5 and JavaScript to reduce the complexity in the app development process.”

Additionally, users will receive an initial storage space of 100GB, which can be further expanded to the needed capacity. The company is offering developers the ability to create their applications and quickly expand their business at low cost with AliCloud’s infrastructure and open platform service or they can utilize their own servers. Also, after three years in development, the OS is fully compatible with Android-based app.

The Aliyun mobile OS from Alibaba Cloud Computing was launched alongside the K-Touch Cloud-Smart Phone W700, the first handset to come equipped with the operating system.
