T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide gets Android 2.2 system update

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide update

Back in May last year, T-Mobile officially announced that the myTouch 3G Slide smartphone would be available through its carrier. The device is fashioned complete with a full physical QWERTY keyboard as well as various software tweaks. Almost a year later, we see HTC offering owners of T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide an update to Android 2.2 or Froyo.

Besides offering the tasty dessert of sorts, handset users can also expect other enhancements to unfurl for the device. This includes Wi-Fi hotspot and calling, low storage (User Data) notification mechanism and USB tethering (Internet Sharing). It also addresses problems faced with picture and text messaging as well as a few Bluetooth compatibility issues. The update is touted to overall enhance reliability and stability of the smartphone as well as better the compatibility with new Bluetooth devices.

This upgrade is apparently not an over-the-air update and needs a Windows-based PC with an active internet connection to install the required software. Windows XP SP2+, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 is required for the update. The Android 2.2 system update can be downloaded from the source link located on the official HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide product page.
