By introducing the Swipe MTV Volt 1000, both companies have once again come together to try their luck in the phablet market. However, there are a handful of details that set the recently announced Android Jelly Bean smartphone apart from its predecessor which had been unveiled by Swipe and MTV roughly four months back.
Well, we can begin by saying that the manufacturers have chosen to move on from 512MB of RAM to adopt an entire gigabyte of DDR3 system memory. Buyers may witness a reduced battery life, owing to the switch from a 3,200mAh cell to a 2,850mAh power pack. The OEM has pushed to the fore a broader gadget with dimensions of 161mm x 90mm x 10.5mm, but the latest device weighs merely 186 grams which is around 50 grams less than the prequel.
Coming to the similarities, the Swipe MTV Volt 1000 comes with a 6-inch capacitive touchscreen and accommodates a dual core MediaTek MT6577 processor which scales up to 1GHz, just like its older brother. An 8MP camera finds itself embedded next to a flash on the rear panel and a front-facing 1.3MP snapper has also been thrown into the mix.
Users should be able to store content of up to 4GB capacity and if the need arises for them to hunt for additional space, they could always slip a microSD card of up to 32GB into the onboard expansion slot. In order to satiate owners’ web browsing cravings, the Swipe MTV Volt supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, while they can rely on Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless sharing.
The company has stated that the Swipe MTV Volt can be purchased through the official e-store at a price of Rs 11,999 or via certain online shopping portals like Snapdeal, Flipkart, Infibeam and eBay.
