It has taken the purported Nokia Lumia EOS a long time to build up curiosity and it turns out that the second week of July holds the key to all answers. Seen on the invitation that the company has been distributing is a catchphrase stating ‘Zoom Reinvented’ and something tells us that it isn’t a digital camera that Nokia is talking about.
With almost a month to go for the big announcement, the Finnish phone maker has left us hanging with next to nil details. To start with, a tweet by its media relations head, Doug Dawson has us gazing at an image which is a mesh of the invite and a previously leaked picture of the handset. In this photo, the smartphone’s flip side touts a PureView shutter with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens.
Although Dawson hasn’t confirmed that it will indeed be the Nokia Lumia EOS, he hasn’t denied the possibility either. The device should pose as stiff competition to the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom which has been presented with a 16MP sensor, especially if the supposed gadget bears a 41MP snapper like the Symbian-packing 808.
Speculations suggest that the smartphone will apparently be sculpted out of polycarbonate and will bag a Pro Camera photography app as well. Recently there were whispers claiming that the company is working on a model featuring a Pelican snapper, but it is quite likely that the handset in question isn’t the one.
It seems like manufacturers’ attention has been diverted towards digital shooter-like smartphones and we believe this is only the onset. Other major companies may soon follow suit. As per the invitation received by the folks over at The Verge, the event will be held in New York on July 11.
