STMicroelectronics’ stereo headphone amplifier IC promises to augment the entire audio experience and precisely lower undesired power consumption. Well, the company has now teamed up with bTendo to make a mark with the unique Pico Projector for smartphones.

Owners need not worry since they can enjoy effortless integration as the unit combines two MEMS-based micro-mirror-actuation devices within the system’s optical engine, an enhanced video-processing chip and incorporated support for MIPI. The offering is designed meticulously and is less than 2.5cm cube in volume and under 6mm in height.

“We are very excited to collaborate with STMicroelectronics, the world leader in MEMS technologies for mobile handsets, to bring to the market our cutting-edge technology for embedded Pico Projectors,” remarked Dana Gross, CEO of bTendo. “ST’s best-in-class semiconductor process technology and design capabilities will enable a cost-effective, low-power solution perfect for personal consumer devices.”

Apart from all this, individuals can quickly share popular media content. The newest entrant is based on bTendo’s Scanning Laser Projection engine technology, as well as ST’s MEMS expertise, video processing abilities and semiconductor process technology.

A demo of this Pico Projector technology was displayed at this year’s MWC.
