Sprint has so far launched four nature-friendly handsets on its network for environmentally conscious consumers who still want the latest technology. Extending its product range of green devices, Sprint has recently doffed the silk off its new smartphone dubbed Samsung Replenish.

The stylish Samsung handset sports a bar form factor equipped with a full physical QWERTY keypad for easy text input. It is powered by Google’s Android 2.2 or Froyo OS and provides instant access to over 1,50,000 apps available through the Android Market.

“We want to make it as simple as we can for our customers to go green with a robust selection of products and competitive pricing,” explained Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO. “Samsung Replenish is as green as we could make it with more than 80 percent recyclable materials, housed in partially recycled plastics, energy efficient and built with fewer environmentally sensitive materials. As if this is not enough incentive, we are also lowering the monthly rate for this phone by $10 for new or existing customers so it pays for itself within just five months.”

Showcasing a 2.8” QVGA touchscreen display, the phone integrates a 2MP camera. It includes support for quick sharing of stored images on websites like Facebook, MySpace or Photobucket as well as uploading of videos to YouTube. The other basic features span Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS support, memory expandability by up to 32GB and more.

The device is manufactured with approximately 82 percent of recyclable materials. It comes loaded with Sprint’s new Green Sprint ID pack that enables automatic downloads of mobile content like apps, shortcuts and widgets for Android users. The handset will be seen adorning the store shelves dipped in arctic blue, onyx black or raspberry pink hues, with the last mentioned shade slated for June 2010.

Beginning from May 8, the Samsung Replenish can be purchased for $49.99 with a two-year service agreement and requires users to opt for Sprint’s Everything Data plans.
