Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus software update arrives, data woes sorted

It’s not even been a month since the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus began shipping in the US, and the carrier has already begun rolling out software updates. Simply put, the network provider has restored some of the issues faced by buyers along with a refreshed app.

Firstly, many users of the ‘pure Google’ handset were not able to hook up to the carrier’s 3G web connectivity option. This made them use Wi-Fi networks for services that necessitated data, in spite of the 3G network being activated. This major issue has now been fixed, as reported on the official Sprint blog.

Secondly, owners of the handset who purchased it via this service provider reported that the network timing was incorrect. This problem has been sorted as well along with an upgraded Google Wallet app.

As for the major specifications of the phone, it carries many features like Android Beam and Face Unlock as its highlights. Hardware components such as a 1.2GHz processor and a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display carry some weight on the specs sheet. A 5MP imager situated on the rear panel offers 1080p video shooting ability along with features like zero-shutter lag and autofocus. With ICS on board, the entire show should be a breeze.

The carrier will roll out an OTA update for the software that will automatically be downloaded on the handsets after the ‘install now’ button is tapped. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus software update is expected to reach devices in roughly 10 to 21 days and can be installed via Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G.
